FBR Tax Return Filing in Pakistan: Salary, Freelancer & Business Returns
File your FBR income tax return online with a registered tax professional: salary, freelancer or business return from Rs 1,750, prepared on Iris, with your filing acknowledgement.
About this service
Filing your income tax return on time keeps you on FBR's Active Taxpayer List (ATL) and avoids the higher withholding tax that non-filers pay on bank transactions, vehicles and property. Baramdat connects you with registered tax professionals who prepare and file your return on FBR Iris, so you do not have to work through the portal yourself.
Choose the return that fits you
- Salary Return, Rs 1,750: for employees whose income is mainly salary, with or without bank profit.
- Freelancer Return, Rs 2,000: for freelancers, IT professionals, designers, writers and online sellers paid in Pakistan or from abroad.

Who needs to file a tax return in Pakistan?
Filing is required for people whose taxable income is above the exemption limit set each year in the Finance Act, and also in several other cases, for example holding an NTN, owning certain vehicles or property, or having a commercial or industrial electricity connection. Even when no tax is payable, many people file to become filers, because it lowers withholding tax rates and makes bank, vehicle and property dealings easier. Rules and limits change with every budget, so tell us your situation and we confirm what applies to you.

Frequently asked questions
How much does FBR tax return filing cost with Baramdat?+
A salary return is Rs 1,750, a freelancer return is Rs 2,000 and a business return is Rs 2,500. NTN registration, if you need one, is an optional add-on of Rs 499. These are our service fees. FBR does not charge a fee for filing, and any income tax you owe is paid separately to FBR.
Who must file an income tax return in Pakistan?+
In general, you must file if your taxable income is above the exemption limit set by the Finance Act, and in several other cases such as holding an NTN, owning certain vehicles or property, or having a commercial or industrial electricity connection. The rules change with each budget, so tell us your situation and we confirm what applies to you.
What is the last date to file a tax return in Pakistan?+
For individuals the usual due date is 30 September following the end of the tax year (30 June). FBR sometimes extends the date, and companies have different dates. You can still file after the due date, but a late-filing penalty may apply, so it is best to file early.
What is the difference between a filer and a non-filer?+
A filer has filed the latest return and appears on FBR's Active Taxpayer List (ATL). Non-filers pay higher withholding tax on things like bank transactions, vehicle registration and property purchases. FBR updates the ATL on its own schedule, so the listing can take a little time after you file.
How do I become an active taxpayer in Pakistan?+
You need an NTN and a filed income tax return for the latest tax year. After FBR processes your return, your name appears on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL). Baramdat can register your NTN and file your return, then guide you on checking your ATL status.
Which package should I choose: salary, freelancer or business return?+
Choose Salary Return if your income is mainly from an employer. Choose Freelancer Return if you earn from freelancing, remote work or online platforms, in Pakistan or abroad. Choose Business Return if you run a shop, trade or small business. If your income mixes sources, order the higher option or tell us in the notes and we advise before filing.
Which documents do I need to file my return?+
Your CNIC, NTN and Iris login details (or the NTN add-on), your salary certificate or income records, bank statements or a profit certificate, and details of your assets on 30 June such as bank balances, vehicles, property and gold. Freelancers add income statements, and businesses add a sales and expense summary.
I do not have an NTN. Can you register one before filing?+
Yes. Tick the NTN registration add-on (Rs 499) when you order. We register you on FBR Iris first and then file your return. You can also order NTN registration on its own.
How long does it take to file my return?+
Usually 1-2 working days after we receive complete documents. Near the due date the volume is higher, so upload your documents early. If your NTN also needs registering, allow a little extra time.
What is a wealth statement and is it included?+
The wealth statement lists your assets and liabilities on 30 June, such as bank balances, vehicles, property, gold and loans. Individuals file it with the return, and a reconciliation shows how your wealth changed during the year. It is included in all three packages.
I earn less than the taxable limit. Should I still file?+
Often yes. A return with no tax payable is still a valid return and makes you a filer, which reduces withholding tax on many transactions. Whether you are required to file depends on your situation, and we can tell you once we see your details.
Can freelancers who are paid from abroad file with you?+
Yes. Order the Freelancer Return and upload your Payoneer, bank or wallet statements for the year. If you have complex income from several countries or a company structure, mention it in the notes and we confirm the scope before filing.
Can I file returns for earlier tax years?+
Yes, in most cases. Tell us the years you need in the order. We confirm any extra charge before starting and explain any late-filing penalty that may apply.
Will I get a tax refund?+
Refunds are possible only when more tax was deducted than you owe, and FBR decides whether and when to pay. We prepare your return correctly, but we cannot promise a refund or its timing.
Is my personal information safe?+
Your documents are shared only with the tax professional handling your return and are used only for your filing. We never ask for your bank PIN, card number or online banking password. We recommend changing your Iris password after filing.
How do I pay and how do I follow my order?+
After ordering you get an invoice and can pay securely online with PayFast (JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank account or card). Work starts once payment is received. Log in to your Baramdat account to upload documents, message the team and download your acknowledgement.
